Gmail users hit with phishing attack

In recent days mainly American Gmail users were targeted by an authentically looking phishing campaign, impersonating Google Documents. In the initial phase of the attack, victims obtained an e-mail from seemingly trusted contacts that invited them to join a shared document. If accepted, the victims were asked to allow access to their Google accounts, which allow the attackers to use the documents. False invitations were subsequently further distributing themselves to affected users' contacts. Google stated on May 3 that the campaign was stopped by disabling that fraudulent accounts and by the removal of fake pages.
