On 22 October The Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) reported that outages of the websites presenting the results of the Czech parliamentary elections (volby.cz, volbyhned.cz) which occured during the afternoon hours of the previous day were caused by a DDoS attack. The disruptions, originally attributed to technical complications, were confirmed to be a result of an attack on the infrastructure of the telecommunication provider O2 whose services have been used by the CSZO. As the Office's spokeswoman stated, the attack had no effect on the transfer of election results from voting stations to the CZSO headquarters or their subsequent processing. The incident is investigated by the police and experts from National Cyber and Information Security Agency.

After the attempts to influence electoral processes in the US and France, the protection of Czech elections from cyber attacks and other related threats has became a priority. The meassures adopted to mitigate this threat involved testing of the CZSO's systems and establishment of an expert group within the Interior Ministry responsible for the sound conduct of elections.
