Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek said on 20 March in an interview with Hospodarske Noviny, a daily newspaper, that he wants to regulate the labour market in the European Union.

The comments come months ahead of the October parliamentary elections in an attempt by his Social Democratic party (CSSD) to woo more voters amid fears of migration, in an country widely lacking workforce. In a separate statement Zaoralek reaffirmed his support to EU integration and freedom of movement. While Visegrad countries continue to call for reforms of the Union and more democratic decision-making, they have refused the majority-backed migration resettlement policy and continued to reject the idea of multi-speed Europe.
